Viele Sinfonien dauern über 40 Minuten: ziemlich lange für nicht professionelle Spieler und auch das Publikum. Also fiel die Wahl für diese Bearbeitung auf die beliebte Haffner-Sinfonie, die komplett nur ungefähr 30 Minuten dauert. Diese Bearbeitung basiert auf dem Grundprinzip, dass nichts hinzugefügt und nichts weggenommen soll und jeder Stimme aus der Originalpartitur eine Stimme im Akkordeonorchester zugewiesen wird, was den Umgang mit der Registrierung der Akkordeons erleichtert. Lediglich in ein paar Fällen mussten die Stimmen angepasst oder aufgeteilt werden.

Auch nach ihrer Beendigung lassen mich die Schlusszeilen des Skorpionmenschen aus meiner Babylon-Oper nicht los: er tötet die Illusion in sich (symbolisch richtet der Skorpion seinen Stachel auf sich selbst), um dann in seiner höheren Form, dem Adler, erneut geboren zu werden; Stich, Erkenntnis, Metamorphose, Flug.

In komprimierter Form wollte ich diese Situation und diese Zeilen noch einmal komplett anders komponieren: anstatt für großes Orchester nun für Countertenor und drei Instrumente, mit vollkommen anderem Material und Gesten-Vokabular.
